Yılmaz Returned from Paris with an Award for Anzer Honey
Ishak Yilmaz, Producer of Anzer Honey, Wins Award at Paris International Honey Awards 2024 Ishak Yilmaz, a producer of Anzer honey, achieved great success at the Paris International Honey Awards (PIHA) 2024, despite the ongoing controversies over fake Anzer honey. At PIHA 2024, one of the world's most prestigious honey competitions, Turkish beekeepers, supported by APIMAYE, received high-quality awards evaluated by a jury including members of the Italian Agricultural Research and Economics Council (CREA).
Success of Turkish Beekeepers
At the Paris Honey Awards 2024, where hundreds of companies from many countries competed with their honey products, Turkish beekeepers once again won high-quality awards. Supported by APIMAYE, known for backing "Good Beekeeping" and "Sustainable Beekeeping" practices and receiving various innovation awards under TÜBİTAK-supported projects, Turkish honey producers passed numerous laboratory and sensory analysis tests, increasing their international recognition.
Laboratory Tests and Jury Evaluation
In the competition organized for the Paris Honey Awards, products were first subjected to laboratory tests. Products that passed these tests were then evaluated by the jury based on quality, aroma, texture, and flavor criteria. The jury included members from CREA, a leading organization in agricultural food supply chains.
Special Presentation to the Governor of Rize
After returning from Paris with the award, Ishak Yilmaz, president of the Anzer SS Anzer Cicekli 1 Agricultural Development Cooperative and organic Anzer honey producer, presented the geographically registered Anzer honey to Rize Governor Ihsan Selim Baydas. Yilmaz shared information about what genuine Anzer honey should be like.
Warning Against Fake Honey
In recent years, Governor Ihsan Selim Baydas of Rize initiated legal proceedings against the sale of fake Anzer honey across the country. Governor Baydas warned citizens, "Our geographically registered Anzer Honey can be tracked with sealed and barcoded packaging. We must avoid imitations produced in violation of these rules," and announced that inspections against fake honey sales would be increased.
