Honey Inquiry System Opened!

Dear consumers, as it is known, jar labels belonging to our cooperative were copied and the so-called honeys of unknown content were put on the market under the name of Anzer Honey in 2021 by fraudsters who were trying to establish trust with you, our valued consumers, by using the name and brand value of our cooperative. We have changed our labels by taking immediate action against this fraud.

However, the fraudsters, who are trying to make our Geographical Indication owner Anzer Bal a source of profit, do not stay idle for a moment. According to the information we have obtained from the Rize Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, this time the fraudsters continue to try to implement their ugly goals by copying the Geographical Indication label.

In order to prevent this fraud, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has taken an extra security measure by adding the "Scratch Security Code" application in 2022 to the "Geographical Indication Registered Jar Security Label with Serial Number" implemented by the Rize Provincial Directorate.

In this context, we recommend that you scrape the labels on the honey you have purchased and inquire at the https://anzerkontrol.web.app/ address of the Rize Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and check whether the geotag is fake.

ANZER HONEY

  • The region first attracted the attention of German botanists and later British botanists in the 1850s.
  • It took its place in the Ottoman archives during the reign of Abdülmecit.
  • Although it is rumored that more than 23 flowers are contained in honey in the old records, it is thought that there are over 400 different plant species in the region and about 80 of them are endemic.
  • The most detailed research on the subject was made by Hacettepe University Prof. Dr. It was chaired by Kadriye SORKUN. Our esteemed teacher, who was fascinated by the region, came to the region many times in the following years and made flora determination studies and published these studies as articles in academic journals.

It is the world famous flower honey produced in a 13 km long valley reaching from 1750 m altitude to 3150 m altitude in Anzer Plateau.

As a result of the applications of our Rize Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, dated 02.12.2019 and numbered C2019/199, it is the first product of our province to have the Geographical Indication / Certificate of Origin, which was entitled to be registered with the document dated 16.02.2021 and numbered 676.

Anzer Honey produced in a natural ecosystem must have Boraginaceae (Myosotis) pollens as the main distinguishing feature. Pollens belonging to Poaceae, Rosaceace, Geraniaceae and Lamiaceae family are dominantly in Anzer Honey.

Its defining feature is that it does not contain Chestnut and Rhododendron pollen, which are not found naturally within the geographical boundary.

In the production of Anzer Honey; Caucasian and Caucasian hybrid bees are used because they are strong and resistant to diseases, have the ability to fly even in cold and foggy weather, and their tongue is longer than other bee races.

PRODUCTION METHOD

For the production of Anzer Honey, beekeepers must complete the accommodation process between 20 May and 30 June. Accommodations after these dates are not allowed.

Controls on the subject; village headmen, relevant cooperatives, law enforcement and İkizdere District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.

Honey produced in scientific hives is filtered after being harvested, rested for a day or two and delivered to cooperatives.

ANALYZES

Following the delivery of honey to the cooperatives, samples are taken together with the technical teams of the Provincial Directorate and, upon request, one member each from the Honey Producers Union and the cooperatives.

The samples taken are sent to Rize Provincial Food Control Laboratory Directorate within the scope of Turkish Food Codex Honey communiqué, and to HARÜM (Hacettepe University Bee and Bee Products Application and Research Center) within the scope of Pollen Analysis.

The honeys with suitable analysis results are 100-250-500-1000 gr. in the Filling Facility, each cooperative separately. Packed in jars. Plastic security tape is applied to the jar lids and the "GEO SIGN" emblem is applied and delivered to the relevant cooperatives.

AUDITS

Inspections will be made once a year after the date of 30 June, which is the last date of departure to the plateau.
